Abu Dhabi underwater snorkelling safari

This is a weather dependent adventure and operates daily in the morning subject to winds and tide favorable for the adventure. Alternate arrangement of Mangrove tour of Abu Dhabi will be made in case of unfavorable weather.

Wewill pick you up aearly in the morning from your hotel and drive you to the starting point The snorkel safari, conducted in powerboat to the Ooid Shoals, the corals near those shoals and then, weather permitting, to the coral reef system off shore.

After you board on the powerboat at Yas Beach you will reach in 40 minute to the Ooid Shoals. You will take a brief walk and explore across the shoals to the other side and snorkel into shallow water and then into deeper water if you feel more confident. Then, board back on the powerboat for a 30 minute ride to the offshore coral reefs. Depending on the snorkeling confidence of the group, this can be in either 1.5m water or 3.5m water. After 45 minutes snorkeling we then return to the powerboat and return back to Yas Beach.

Your snorkeling Guide will explain what you might find and try to identify what you do find. This is not fishing, spear fishing, crab hunting or a shell or coral collecting trip. This is about enjoying what remains of Abu Dhabi’s natural coastline and submerged natural treasures. Take nothing but pictures, kill nothing but time and leave nothing but footprints.

After the tour we will explore Abu Dhabi like visiting the fort, Malls or the Sheikh zayed mosque what ever you like later will will drive you back to Dubai in total approximately 8 hours.

Tides and timing: This adventure can only be done at low tide when the ooid shoals are exposed and is best done in the morning when the winds are, generally, lighter. Tides are not the same time everyday, so the snorkel safari cannot be done on everyday. For more information about:

Price: 300 AED per person. Children 10years and under are not recommended.

Numbers on tour: The tour is limited to a maximum of 8 people.

Booking: To book the snorkel safari ring or email the office. Large groups will be required to pay a deposit.

Facilities: There are toilets and changing facilities at Yas Beach at the beginning and end of the tour. In between (4hrs) there are no facilities, please be prepared for that.



Clothing: You must bring:

clothing for walking on shallow sands and swimming;
a warm or windproof top for the journey back (you will chill down);
Snorkel and mask; and
Fins; if you want, but
Reef shoes are a must (there are loads of sea urchins around).
Snorkeling equipment: You need to bring your own. This trip will only appeal to people who have already been snorkeling and have their own face mask and snorkel already.

Water and snacks: Bring whatever snacks you will need for 4 hours and at least 1 litre of water.

Weather: This adventure is weather dependent. If strong winds are forecast or arise during the trip it may be cancelled or shortened. Your guide will advise you or the office will contact you prior to the safari.


NOTE:

Guests must bring their snorkeling gear.
There are no facilities for the duration of the 4 hour adventure.
