Guidelines for Visitors in the Desert
The Dubai Municipality (DM) has issued new guidelines for picnickers, desert campers and off-road enthusiasts visiting the desert dunes around Dubai.
The Waste Management Department of the Dubai municipality has issued the dos and don’ts to desert visitors during the third Desert Cleanup Campaign that was launched in Al Warqa this week.
The leaflet suggests some of the following actions
Do not to pull wild plants by root, at any circumstances,
Try to help the wild plants proliferate further.
Never do any harm to animals that may be found during safari or camping.
Collecting waste materials resulting from the activities and dispose them of in the designated trash containers,
Keep the sand clean by not disposing of the burned coal and ashes on it
Minimize the quantity of leftover materials by using recyclable materials that can be reused many times.
Desert visitors have also been asked to enlighten and advise the members of their groups whenever negative behaviour is exhibited and enhance, boost and instil positive aspects in the minds of members of the group or family for making the trips mean more.
The awareness material specially warns not to throw broken glass, tin or plastic cans carelessly, citing that it will harm animals and human beings and may distort the general landscape and beauty of the area.
“The conservation of environment and its resources reflects the true allegiance to the country,” the pamphlet added.
Inspectors will make special visits during the campaign running till March 9 and will take action against viioators as per the local regulations.
